Chapter Management Committee Meeting Minutes

Kent East, who was substituting for the Chapter Chair, Rich O’Donnell, convened a regular meeting of the Chapter’s Management Committee at 11:35 a.m., on 12 October 2007, at the Log.Sec Corp in Eatontown , NJ .

Attendees: 

Ken East, Bill Hogelin,  Bill McLean, Bob Featheringham, Ann St. Germaine, Jeannie Allerton

The meeting was opened as the Management Committee (with Quorum present) and then devolved into a Committee as a Whole (Budget Committee) to discuss and develop a Budget and Spending Plan for FY 2008 which was presented by Bob Featheringham, Treasurer.  All options were considered; subsequently we resumed the Management Committee meeting and approved the recommended Budget and Spending Plan unanimously.

Jeannie Allerton – VC Administration.

Reports of Committees:

Finance:  B. Featheringham presented the new budget for the Garden State Chapter, FY 2008, as state above.

Membership:   B. McLean submitted a list of members’ names and email addresses. The current membership is 290.   Some members need to notify SOLE of their new email addresses in order to receive notifications as their mail is currently being returned. He discussed the membership renewal notification process.

Newsletter:  M. Harris was not present but submitted a report. All newsletter inputs must be submitted no later than the 15th of the month. All contributors will have headshots included in the newsletter.

Educational Committee: The Chapter is presently conducting the Professional Logistician class at CSC Corp. in Eatontown , NJ .  It commenced 24 Sep and will end 10 Dec 07.  Thirty-one students are in attendance.   Ken East and Al Viola are instructors.  Bill Hogelin also reported that  a future  Education Workshop Luncheon will be planned as last year’s was very successful. He and other members discussed new ways to present the advantages of SOLE membership to the interns .

Administration: Jeannie Allerton submitted for review the quarterly activity report and the chapter officer election report.  

Industrial Affairs Cmte. Chair:  Ann St. Germain reported the count of close to 40 people signed up for the upcoming luncheon on 16 Oct.  She will send the flyer out again this afternoon with a biography of Dr. Richard Wittstruck, the guest speaker.  Ann also plans to ask Kelli Collins to assist with selling 50/50s at the luncheon.

Other Topics of Discussion :

-Future planning of 2 evening Social Gatherings, one in February 08 and one in Aug 08.

- Garden State Chapter representation at the International SOLE Symposiums

- Fisher House Fund Raiser in 2008.
