Chapter Management Committee Meeting Minutes

 

Bill Hogelin, Chapter Chair, convened a regular meeting of the Chapter’s Management Committee at 11:45 a.m., on 12 Mar 09, at CSC in Eatontown , NJ .

Bill Hogelin, Ken East, Bill McLean, Ann St. Germaine, Steve Bromka, Bob Featheringham, MAJ Paul McCullough, Sabrina Fowler-Turner and Teresa Brown

Administration:

The minutes from the last meeting were passed out and read by members.  Ken East made a motion to accept the minutes as read and Sabrina Fowler-Turner seconded the motion.

 

Finance:

Bob Featheringham reported that he sent a $500 check to LEF.  He also sent a donation to the Boy Scout Technology Center and the Brookdale Community College Science Fair as agreed upon at the last meeting.  He has also reserved a table of 10 for the annual Support our Troops/Fisher House Ball.  Reservations are being taken for the gala by Jeannie Allerton.  The cost will only be $25 per person.  SOLE is donation to Fisher House covers the remainder of the cost.  A check to cover this table and an ad in the program was sent.

 

Membership:

Bill McLean reported that we had 5 renewals and 3 new memberships received in Feb.  Bill also advised that he has an updated membership list as of Feb 09.  He will send the same via email to all members.

 

Professional Development:

Bill Hogelin read Rich Nichols report stating that Jennifer Reed would be the Luncheon Speaker Tuesday and he was working on getting Pat Kalgren from Impact Technologies to talk about Condition Based Maintenance at the April Meeting.  Teresa Brown added she had 37 signed up for the March SOLE Luncheon.  She has registration and the registration table covered this month.  She also has registration covered for the April luncheon and the May Symposium.  The chapter asked Ann to assist with April’s luncheon registration table and she agreed.  Sabrina will be back for the symposium and will have Donna McCabe assisting.  Bob Featheringham will away Tuesday and provided Bill Hogelin with the checks and petty cash funds.  Teresa Murphy will also be away so Bill will set up the room and the laptop with the presentation.  Steve Bromka will provide the CD.

 

Education:

MAJ Paul McCullough reported that the workshop presented by Enlogex, Inc. was a success.  He posed the question of the possibility of included in the next workshop approved budget, the application fee cost for certifications.  He felt that it would be a good incentive to get people to join the chapter.  Also MAJ McCullough stated that he needed to confirm the March 24 workshop.  Bill Hogelin mentioned the possibility of pushing the workshop to the right in order to ensure maximum attendance.

 

MAJ McCullough next brought the CML Prep Course planning.  There is scheduled a planning meeting immediately after the board meeting for board members interested.

 

Steve Bromka spoke of the on-going reorganization in the LRC and that there would be a need for career specific training for logisticians.  He suggested that we look into this possible training need.

 

MAJ McCullough added his next workshop was to be along those lines and some work had already been started with talks with Scott Kelly, the previous LRC employee detailed to look into training of ILS Managers.

Newsletter:

Ann St. Germaine, passed out the February 2009 newsletter.  She pointed out the last page and that she would wait until MAJ McCullough has confirmed the March 24 workshop before she posts the newsletter.

 

Symposium:

It was agreed upon to include the blackberry numbers and email addresses of Sabrina Fowler-Turner and Teresa Brown on this year’s flyer.  Ken East reported that the Symposium arrangements are looking good.  He has talked to all the requested speakers and confirmed five out of the six exhibits. Bob Featheringham waited till then to surprise us with a laptop “loaned” to the chapter by his family for use at luncheons and the symposium.

 

Spring Networking Party:

Sabrina Fowler-Turner reported that she had tentatively secured a place for the Spring Networking Party, which would be the American Legion in Neptune .  There would be no cost to rent the facility due to her uncle having membership.  The two dates that are available are both Fridays, April 17 and April 24, 2009.  Sabrina stated that she would be able to confirm entity on Monday March 16.  Cost and bringing guest was discussed and will be looked into by Sabrina.  It was discussed what is normally provided at the function and agreed upon to provide the same this year.  That being finger food and drinks.  Mix drinks would also be available at a pay as you drink basis.  She will also check on a DJ, caterers and door prizes.

 

Awards:

Bill Hogelin, filling in for Jeanne Allerton, suggested having an Awards Committee Meeting to discuss the upcoming end of the year submittal.  Ann mentioned meeting to discuss after the luncheon Tuesday.  Bob suggested looking into making the Awards Committee Chair and separate position from the Administrative Vice-Chair position next year. (Need package out by end of March)

 

Old Business: 

Bob Featheringham followed up on the two motions passed at the last board meeting and mailed two checks.  In addition, MAJ McCullough will be one of the judges at the science fair.

 

New Business:

Teresa Brown advised that she would be on a CEER-T mission at Ft. Campbell beginning Apr 2 for 6 to 12 weeks.  She stated that she would be able to handle reservations from there but would not be present for the April and May luncheons.  Sabrina Fowler-Turner advised that she would be on travel for a portion of April but would also be able to handle reservations for the May luncheon.

 

No motions were raised.
