absent, the minutes from the last meeting were read by Bill Hogelin, Chapter
Chair. Ken East made a motion to accept the minutes as read and Steve Bromka
seconded the motion. Finance: Bob Featheringham provided a
hard copy of a new approach to track the
Chapter’s fiscal activity by the number of transactions rather than the
amount in dollars. He reviewed the Chapter finances noting that the luncheon
subsidies had been planned at $22 per person, but now fees have increased. No
luncheon meetings are scheduled for May, June, July, and August at this time. Membership: Bill McLean stated that we
now have 180 active Chapter members, with 6 renewals and 2 newly registered
members. He will email the current updated membership list to all Committee
members. An idea was discussed to try to sign up Interns from Education: Since MAJ Paul McCullough
was not in attendance, his report was read by Bill Hogelin. The Logistics
Course being offered at CSC through Enlogex is scheduled to begin on
Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 5 – 7 PM. Plans are in process for a CML
Prep Course tentatively to begin in mid-February. Books will be needed to be
purchased from SOLE prior to the start of the course. Also, a DL workshop is
planned for later in 2009. MAJ McCullough requested that the cost of the DL
certification, $25, be covered for all SOLE members. He is also looking for
suggestions for more workshop ideas. LEF Liaison: At the January 20th
luncheon, $42 was donated to the LEF. Programs:
Bill Hogelin announced that
Rich Nichols’ new job limits his time for SOLE activities. Rich will be
unable to attend the luncheon meetings for awhile, so help is needed to move
all the equipment to the Sheraton every month and set up for the
presentations. Rich’s report stated that our December 16th
speaker, Robert Goodwin, gave an
excellent talk on LEFT BEHIND MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT. A replacement is needed
for the January luncheon since the scheduled speaker is unable to attend. Dr.
Richard Wittstruck, Chief Systems Engineer at USA PEO IEW&S will speak in
February. Jennifer Reed, Chief, Communications Electronics is scheduled for
the March luncheon. Reports of Committees:
Symposium:
Ken East reported that the
31st SOLE
Symposium will take place on Tuesday, May 12th,
at the Sheraton Eatontown. The keynote speaker, Mr. Randy Fowler, Assistant
Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Materiel Readiness) is scheduled, but Ken
is looking for current and timely topics and speakers to fill the day. Awards: A Certificate of
Appreciation was presented by Bill Hogelin, Chapter Chair, to Mr. Michael
O’Donnell, Project Lead for Material Requirements Planning, CECOM LRC-LEO
Directorate at the 20 Jan 09 luncheon for his presentation of "LRC’s
MRP Expansion/Certification Scorecard.” Government Affairs.
None Industrial Affairs

Newsletter:
Ann St. Germaine passed out
the current newsletter draft for review. The committee members agreed that she
should email it to the SOLE membership to read. This will be standard
procedure to send out monthly newsletters so members receive current updates
on Chapter activities. Publicity.
Steve Bromka stated that he
has been posting all the newsletters and luncheon presentations on the Chapter
website. He also needs articles 3 to 4 weeks ahead of time so he can post them
in the Monmouth Message for New Business: Bill Hogelin stated that
more discussion is needed on whether the Chapter will cover the $25 fee for
the SOLE members who apply for DL certification. He said we may need to buy
the books commercially for the CML course if they are not supplied by the SOLE
office. Bill said that two new positions are under consideration for the
Chapter. One position is for a Networking Social position, and the other is
for a CML/CPL position. Adjournment: Motion to adjourn was made
by Ken East and seconded by Bob Featheringham. The meeting was adjourned at
1:00. Respectfully submitted: Ann St. Germaine for Jeannie
