Chapter Management Committee Meeting Minutes

 

Rich O’Donnell, Chapter Chair, convened a regular meeting of the Chapter’s Management Committee at 11:45 a.m., on 5 Dec 07 2007, at  LogSec Corp in Eatontown , NJ .

 

Attendees: 

 

Rich O’Donnell, Ken East, Bill Hogelin, Bill McLean, Bob Featheringham, Steve Bromka, Ron Fulton, Mike Ryskamp, Ann St. Germaine,  Linda Chapurtinov, Jeannie Allerton

 

Reports of Officers:

Finance:

Bob presented the Treasurer’s Monthly Report for November 2007.   With the exception of luncheon subsidies, all income and expenses are within budget.

 

Education:  B. Hogelin reported that the Professional Logistician class at CSC Corp. in Eatontown, NJ  will end 10 Dec 07.  Thirty-one students are in attendance.   Mr. O’Donnell has received favorable feedback from students taking the class, that it is very informative.  B. Hogelin and the board discussed the prospect of offering the class again in the future and the prospect of following the first class up with CPL prep work. Ken East reported that the CPL Exam will be proctored by M. Ryskamp and held at CSC in May 07.  B. Hogelin brought up the subject of having evening courses in the spring 2008 in  reliability and maintainability.  Bill talked about the IEEE/AFCE High School Science Fair.  

 

 Membership:   B. McLean reported 6 transactions (2 new members, 4 renewals) during Nov 2007.  Total membership is 298.  He is working to get more renewal dues. 

 

Programs:  R. Fulton reported that the speakers scheduled for a 2008 luncheon are Ms. (Alva) Cecelia Black from the IEW&S Dir, and LTC Visconti (possibly) from PEO IEW&S, PM Radar.

 

Reports of Committees:

 

Symposium:  K. East reported that the Symposium, which will be its 30th year, will take place on 13 May 07 at the Sheraton.   

 

Awards:  J. Allerton reported that our chapter will be earning award points for conducting the Professional Logistician class (25 points per class hour). 

 

Government Affairs:   L. Chapurtinov offered to spread the word regarding the Designated Logistician Certification procedures/ requirements.   The application fee is $50.00.

 

Industrial Affairs Cmte. Chair:  Ann St. Germain reported the count of 23 people signed up for the upcoming luncheon on 18 Dec 07 at Branches, W.Long Branch.  The scheduled guest speaker is COL Perry Smith, Project Director, Signal Warfare, PEO IEW&S.

 

LEF Liaison:  M. Ryskamp will be the proctor for the CPL exam that is planned for May 07.

 

Newsletter:  The board members discussed the need and made suggestions for articles, authors, etc. to assist Michael Harris with this. All newsletter inputs must be submitted no later than the 15th of the month. All contributors will have headshots included in the newsletter.

 

Publicity:  S. Bromka reported that he published the December luncheon information on the front page of the CECOM Knowledge Center and in November, the video of Dr. Wittstruck’s presentation from the 16 October luncheon.  The PowerPoint slides, “Quick Reaction Capabilities (QRC)”, were added to the SOLE website under “Events.”

 

New Business:

 

A motion to offer the newsletter editor a stipend was proposed by W. Hogelin.    Motion was denied 6 to 1.
