 3 April 2008

Chapter Management Committee Meeting Minutes

 

 

Rich O'Donnell, Chapter Chair, convened a regular meeting of the Chapter's Management Committee at 11:45 a.m., on 3 Apr 08, at LogSec Corp in Eatontown , NJ .

 

Attendees: 

 

Rich O'Donnell, Bob Featheringham, Ken East, Bill Hogelin, Bill McLean,

Steve Bromka, Ann St. Germaine, Jeannie Allerton

 

Reports of Officers:

 

Reports were presented by:

Bob Featheringham - VC Finance

Bill Hogelin - Education

Bill McLean – Membership

Steve Bromka – Publicity

Jeannie Allerton – Admin

 

Administration:

J. Allerton submitted and read the minutes from the last committee meeting.   K. East made a motion to accept the minutes and and B. Featheringham seconded the motion.

 

Finance:

Bob Featheringham submitted the Treasurer’s Report which was accepted, subject to final audit.

 

Membership:

 Bill McLean reported 5 transactions (1 new member, 4 renewals).  Total membership is 157. 

 

Education: 

Bill Hogelin reported that there is  an Army library of digital books available on the Army Knowledge Online (AKO) website.  He proposed that SOLE purchase a few hard copy logistics books; R. O’Donnell agreed that we can do that.   Bill reported that another CML/CPL study group meeting took place since our last meeting and expressed the need that these continue.  He plans for an Army Logistician Designation Program representative to speak at the SOLE symposium in May.  Bill suggested establishing a short course in CPL RAM and a follow-on course for CML-CPL.  Rich O’Donnell reported that we may be able to fund one “Professional Logistician’s Course” per year.  He also suggested that we have a separate meeting to discuss these plans.

 

LEF Liaison: 

The Chapter’s contribution of $500 for LEF was forwarded to SOLE International in March 2008.

 

 

Programs:

 Rich O’Donnell and committee members reported that the luncheon presentation of 18 March 08 given by LTC Selph was very informative and well received.

 

Reports of Committees:

 

Symposium:  

Ken East reported that the plans are progressing for the Symposium which will take place on 13 May 08.  He has commitments from some speakers and a maximum of 7 exhibitors which is all we can accommodate space-wise.   Ken held a meeting for the Symposium committee members on 20 March 2008 who are all working to make this a successful event.   They will meet again on 9 April.

 

Awards: 

Jeannie Allerton thanked Rich O’Donnell and all committee members for their help with and  submissions for the Awards Book that she is compiling for the period 1 Apr 07 to 31 Mar 08.  It will be forwarded to SOLE Hqs in the next week or so after some answers to questions are received from them.   R. O’Donnell commended all committee members and others as our chapter has earned points in all categories to include Operations, Membership, Technical Activities, Public Relations/Liaison, and Administration.

 

Government Affairs:   No report submitted.

 

 Industrial Affairs Cmte.   

Anne St. Germaine reported that the next luncheon is scheduled for 15 Apr 2008 and LTC Bosworth will be the speaker. 

 

Newsletter: 

Rich O’Donnell asked all members to provide or suggest articles, authors, etc. to

assist Michael Harris.

 

Publicity: 

Steve Bromka provided a report of usage statistics which reflects the number of visits and hits that the Garden State chapter website has had in the last 12 months.  It has had over 118,000 hits with the “Events” link having the most visits where people have access to the luncheon PowerPoint briefings.

 

Adjournment:

 Motion to adjourn was made by B. Featheringham and seconded by S. Bromka.  The meeting was adjourned at 1:00.
